PANGAEA Internet Awards First Installation Grant

TRYON, NC / October 2, 2013 – PANGAEA Internet (PANGAEA) has awarded the first grant to help new customers obtain PANGAEA’s “Speed of Light” fiber optic internet service.  Trinity Christian School in Rutherfordton will use the grant to offset installation costs to connect the school’s campus to the PANGAEA fiber optic network.

Trinity Christian School, Rutherfordton, NC

“PANGAEA Internet will help Trinity Christian School more efficiently meet the technology needs of our faculty and students,” according to Tiffany Walker, Trinity’s Head of School. “Every classroom is equipped with Smart boards and computers that require internet service in order to work properly.”

PANGAEA’s new grant program is designed to assist potential customers with installation costs for PANGAEA’s fiber optic internet service. Grant awards will be up to $1,000 per customer and up to $5,000 in grant funds will be awarded per calendar year. Grant applications can be submitted by businesses and organizations in Polk and Rutherford Counties at any time.

“Our new installation grant program is an extension of PANGAEA Internet’s nonprofit mission to deliver affordable, reliable connectivity services for our region,” according to PANGAEA Executive Director Ron Walters. “Fiber is expensive so these grants will help businesses and organizations improve their operations, will accelerate economic development and will improve the quality of life in our area.”

Grant applications are reviewed by a team comprised of PANGAEA board members. Funds will be awarded based on the applicant’s organization profile and existing internet service, combined with a demonstration of how PANGAEA service will positively impact them. The grant application and instructions, as well as a fiber map, are available at www.pangaea.us.

PANGAEA Internet (pan-GEE-ah) is a non-profit provider of high-speed fiber optic internet service.
